Jets' Bryan Little out indefinitely after collision in home opener

NHL, Winnipeg Jets

The Winnipeg Jets announced Bryan Little will be out indefinitely after suffering an undisclosed lower-body injury in Thursday's home opener against the Carolina Hurricanes.

Little left after colliding with Hurricanes' Bryan Bickell in the first period. Little skated off the ice under his own power but did not return.

"We'll have a better idea of just how long in a couple weeks," head coach Paul Maurice said.

Little is coming off a fractured vertebrae injury suffered in February against Tampa Bay that prematurely ended his 2015-16 season. He was second on the team in scoring at the time of that injury.

Maurice said the Jets will have to adjust their lines to compensate the absence of the team's "most experienced center, our strongest right-handed draw man."

"Power play, penalty kill, there isn't a piece of our game that we won't miss him in," Maurice said.
