Co-owners Mario Lemieux and Ron Burkle plan to keep Penguins

The Pittsburgh Penguins are no longer on the market, according to team president and CEO David Morehouse.

"We did look at a bunch of different things. One of them included the outright sale of the franchise. We're not looking at that right now," Morehouse told 1020 KDKA-AM on Thursday. "We couldn't be luckier to have owners like this in Pittsburgh."

It is possible that team co-owners Mario Lemieux and Ron Burkle would add minority investors, Morehouse told the radio station.

Morehouse's comments came hours before the Penguins raised their fourth Stanley Cup championship banner to the ceiling before a season-opening 3-2 win over the Washington Capitals.

Before the 2015-16 season, Lemieux and Burkle hired a firm to evaluate their options. According to one media report, they were looking for $750 million in a potential sale.
