ARLINGTON, Va. -- Team Sweden forward Rickard Rakell remains in a Swedish hospital with an unspecified illness, according to coach Rikard Gronborg.

Rakell was a late scratch for Saturday's World Cup of Hockey tuneup against Finland at Scandinavium in Gothenburg, Sweden. He did not travel with the team on Sunday.

"He didn't feel any better this morning, so he went back to the hospital," Gronborg said. "So far we haven't found anything."

If Rakell is unable to rejoin his team, Sweden has until Sept. 16 to add another player to the roster.

"We've got to be in contact with him [Monday] and then we'll see where we're at, and hopefully for his own sake we know what it is because right now we don't."

When asked the level of concern, Gronborg said: "Obviously he's not here, so it is a concern. It's tough to say because we don't know what it is."

Also, Team Sweden forward Marcus Kruger, who missed Saturday's game with an upper-body injury, traveled with the team and practiced on Sunday at Kettler Capitals Iceplex. Afterward, he said he hopes to be back in the lineup when the team faces Russia on Wednesday in another World Cup preseason game at Verizon Center.

"He felt great," Gronborg said. "He said it's a huge difference between yesterday and today, so he's going the right way. He feels pretty optimistic."
