Carey Price will start for Canada against U.S. Friday

NHL, Montreal Canadiens, Dallas Stars

OTTAWA -- Carey Price is set to play in his first game since November as Team Canada has tabbed him for Friday night's World Cup of Hockey exhibition game versus Team USA.

"Getting the nod," Price said with a smile Wednesday. "I'm kind of excited more than stressed."

It's been a long journey back for the 2015 Hart and Vezina Trophy winner, whose 2015-16 season was derailed by a right knee injury that limited him to 12 games; his last appearance was on Nov. 25.

Price's injury completely unhinged the Montreal Canadiens' season and also put in doubt his participation in the World Cup of Hockey.

But the gold-medal-winning netminder from the Sochi Olympics says he feels 100 percent again and is ready to go.

"It's nice to be able to come in here and see some quality work," Price said. "I feel the last three practices we've had here with the tempo we have, it's a real good preparation for a game."

Team Canada coach Mike Babcock said Price would play the full 60 minutes Friday in Columbus while Braden Holtby of the Washington Capitals and Corey Crawford of the Chicago Blackhawks would split Saturday's game in Ottawa, again versus Team USA.

In other news, Tyler Seguin was back on the ice for Team Canada on Wednesday after missing the previous day's session because of illness.

"I'm feeling a little better," the Dallas Stars forward said after practice. "It was bad enough to miss Day 2 of Canada practice, which no one wants to do. So yeah, it was pretty crappy yesterday. But I felt better last night. This morning the doc called me and said I could come to the rink. So that was good."

Seguin was skating on a line with Ryan Getzlaf of the Anaheim Ducks and John Tavares of the New York Islanders on Wednesday.
