Flames' Dennis Wideman out for last 12 games; has triceps injury

Calgary Flames defenseman Dennis Wideman, injured in a collision during his third game since returning from suspension Wednesday, will miss the last 12 games of the season with an injured triceps, the team said.

Wideman, who suffered the injury in a 4-1 win over the Winnipeg Jets, went down heavily in the first period after colliding with teammate Joe Colborne behind the Jets' net, seconds before Michael Frolik's goal.

Wideman sat out 19 games as his suspension for hitting a linesman, which was levied by the league's hockey operations department but reduced from 20 games to 10 games by an independent arbitrator after a lengthy appeals process. The league said it "strenuously" disagreed with the decision.
