Tennis-Germany beat Belgium to reach Davis Cup semi-finals

OSTEND, Belgium, April 7 - Germany clinched a
place in the Davis Cup semi-finals for the first time since 1995
when Alexander Waske and Michael Kohlmann beat Olivier and
Christophe Rochus 4-6 6-2 6-3 6-1 to give the team a 3-0 winning
lead on Saturday.

Belgium, trailing 2-0 after Friday's singles, were given a
dash of hope when the Rochus brothers took 38 minutes to win a
first set that was riddled with mistakes.

The German duo soon settled their nerves, however, and broke
three times in the second set to level.

Kohlmann crucially saved two break points on his serve in
game four of the third set. That escape gave the Germans a surge
of confidence and they want on to take the match comfortably.
