Vince Young traveling to Canada, eyes deal with Saskatchewan

Former NFL quarterback Vince Young was en route Wednesday to Canada in hopes of signing with the CFL's Saskatchewan Roughriders, agent Leigh Steinberg confirmed.

Young, 33, last threw a regular-season pass in 2011, when he played for the Philadelphia Eagles. He announced his retirement in 2014, but Saskatchewan has kept him on its negotiation list in case he decided to resume playing.

The Roughriders, who will open the new Mosaic Stadium this summer, traded starting quarterback Darian Durant to Montreal this offseason. They signed veteran Kevin Glenn, but Glenn is 37 and Young could compete with him for the starting job.

The Roughriders denied last month a report that they had worked out Johnny Manziel, who is currently an NFL free agent and a member of the Hamilton Tiger-Cats' negotiation list.
