Redskins tight end Jordan Reed is expected to play Sunday against the Eagles, a source told ESPN's Adam Schefter.
Reed had been listed as questionable on the injury report due to a Grade 3 separation of the AC joint in his left shoulder. A source said Reed and the Redskins still would wait until pregame to finalize the decision.
Reed had expressed confidence after practices Thursday and Friday that he would be able to play. The Redskins, however, remained in wait-and-see mode, wanting doctors to clear him. During the portion of practice open to the media, Reed at times appeared in discomfort because of the shoulder. He sometimes would make one-handed catches, keeping his left arm down. However, he also showed that he could catch two-handed, one time reaching up high on a fade pattern in the end zone.
Reed hasn't played since suffered the injury in a Thanksgiving Day loss to the Cowboys. He was sidelined for most of the second quarter but returned after halftime to catch eight passes, playing mainly on passing downs.
The tight end is tied with receiver Pierre Garcon for the team lead with 59 receptions and is second behind Jamison Crowder in touchdown catches with five.
Reed's return gives the Redskins their primary target and someone who thrives against man coverage, which the Eagles like to play. He missed the first meeting between these teams, a 27-20 Washington victory.
