HOUSTON -- Houston Texans running back Lamar Miller said he plans to play Sunday against the Detroit Lions despite his bruised shoulder. Even if he plays, Miller said he is not sure how many carries he will get in the game. Miller was limited Monday night in a loss to the Denver Broncos after he injured his shoulder on a first-quarter rush. Miller said he was just trying to brace himself after a 25-yard run, but he got hit on his shoulder. He said he had the same injury two years ago. "My shoulder felt kind of numb," Miller said. Miller said it just became an issue of pain management throughout the rest of the game. His MRI came back negative and he said all his ligaments are intact. Miller played just 44 percent of the Texans' offensive snaps; fellow back Alfred Blue played 51. Miller was a limited participant in practice on Thursday. He said he has felt better every morning as the week has progressed. In seven games this season, Miller has run for 581 yards and a touchdown on 136 carries. He also has 20 catches for 117 yards and a touchdown. The Texans' running game has improved as the offensive line has become healthier, and as Miller has grown more comfortable in Houston's offense. The Texans are now tied for the 11th-best rushing offense per game in the league. "I give the guy a lot of credit," head coach Bill O'Brien said. "He's a tough guy. He's a pro football player. He really came back and kept wanting to play [on Monday night], and I think that's good."
