KANSAS CITY, Mo. -- Jamaal Charles, with soreness in his surgically repaired right knee, will not play on Sunday against the Colts in Indianapolis. The Chiefs will list Charles as out for Sunday's game on their final injury report of the week.
"His knee was just up and down [in practice this week]," coach Andy Reid said. "We're just going to back him off here and see if we can't get that thing to settle down.
"We're never going to put him out there if it's not right. That's not going to happen."
Charles tore his ACL in a game against the Chicago Bears last October. He returned to game action in Week 4 against the Pittsburgh Steelers and played even more in the next game against the Oakland Raiders.
But Charles started having some soreness in the knee last week and got the ball only once in the game against the New Orleans Saints.
The Chiefs do not plan to promote either of their two practice squad running backs, Darrin Reaves or Zac Brooks, to the active roster. They will go with Spencer Ware and Charcandrick West at running back against the Colts.
Receivers Tyreek Hill and De'Anthony Thomas can also play at running back in a pinch.
