ENGLEWOOD, Colo. -- Running back C.J. Anderson missed practice Wednesday to have a right knee injury evaluated as the Denver Broncos try to determine how much time Anderson will miss. His right knee buckled slightly during an 11-yard run on the last play of the first quarter of the Broncos' 27-9 victory over the Houston Texans on Monday night. Initially, some with the team said it was believed Anderson had a bone bruise. But Anderson was in pain when he arrived at the team's facility Tuesday, so a second exam was scheduled. "He came in really sore [Tuesday],'' Broncos coach Gary Kubiak said after Wednesday's practice. "So we're trying to evaluate exactly where he's at right now.'' "Basically we're getting a second opinion,'' Kubiak added. "We hope to know some time [Thursday] afternoon.'' Anderson suffered the injury as he closed in on Texans cornerback A.J. Bouye. As Anderson tried to make a cut just before contact, he planted his right foot and his knee buckled slightly as he then was tackled. Anderson sat on the field for several moments after the play, talking to the Broncos' trainers, and at one point grabbed his lower right leg. Anderson returned to the game in the second quarter, with a 3-yard run eight plays later. He finished the game with 107 yards on 16 carries. "We're really just trying to evaluate it,'' Kubiak said. "He played through it, played extremely well.'' The Broncos matched an $18 million offer sheet to Anderson from the Miami Dolphins. Anderson has 437 yards rushing this season to go with four rushing touchdowns. Rookie Devontae Booker will likely start Sunday's game against the San Diego Chargers in Anderson's place. "[Booker] is a stud,'' Broncos quarterback Trevor Siemian said. "He's been running really well for us the last couple weeks, so hopefully we get C.J. back again, because you like to have two.''
