Matthew Stafford sets mark for most pass yards in 1st 100 games

CHICAGO -- Matthew Stafford continues to pile up the early career NFL records.

The Detroit Lions quarterback set the NFL's best-ever passing yardage mark through a quarterback's first 100 games Sunday, passing Dan Marino, who threw for 26,961 yards in the first 100 games of his career.

Stafford entered Sunday against Chicago -- his 97th game -- with 26,961 yards, 104 yards behind Marino. He and the Lions struggled in the first half against the Bears, but Stafford picked up the record on the first drive of the second half.

He had 128 yards at the end of that drive, giving him 27,089.

Behind Stafford and Marino are Kurt Warner (26,097), Peyton Manning (26,008) and Aaron Rodgers (25,616).

He already owns the NFL record for most passing attempts in a season with 727 attempts in 2012. He was also the fastest quarterback to 25,000 yards in a career -- a mark he set last season.

On the same drive, Lions receiver Anquan Boldin tied Isaac Bruce for No. 11 all-time in receptions. He and Bruce now have 1,024 catches in their careers.
