Cowboys' Orlando Scandrick, Tyron Smith both inactive against Bears

ARLINGTON, Texas -- Dallas Cowboys left tackle Tyron Smith will miss a game for the first time since 2012, his second year, after his back tightened up during Friday's practice.

Smith was listed as questionable for Sunday night's game against the Chicago Bears, but it did not loosen up well enough for him to play. Chaz Green will replace Smith and make the first start of his career.

Smith won't be the only regular missing. Cornerback Orlando Scandrick is inactive as he works through hamstring strains to both legs. Scandrick did not practice during the week but was listed as questionable to play against the Bears.

Smith last missed a game on Thanksgiving Day in 2012 against the Washington Redskins because of an ankle injury. He had played in 55 straight games. Smith was unable to finish Friday's practice and was a late addition to the injury report.

Green did not play in a game last year as a rookie after undergoing hip surgery. He has seen spot duty in the first two games while the Cowboys have used an extra offensive tackle. With Green starting, guard Ronald Leary is active for the first time this season, and right guard Zack Martin will serve as the swing tackle. He took some snaps at tackle during the week as right tackle Doug Free worked through a quadriceps strain.

Scandrick missed last year with a left knee injury. He last missed a game because of injury (broken hand) in 2012. He was suspended the first two games of 2014. Rookie Anthony Brown will take over as the slot cornerback in Scandrick's absence.
