Browns sign kicker Cody Parkey to replace injured Patrick Murray

BEREA, Ohio -- The Browns signed 2014 Pro Bowl place-kicker Cody Parkey on Saturday to replace injured kicker Patrick Murray.

The Browns had to make a move when Murray hurt his left knee kicking on Friday. It was a tough break for Murray, who had come back from a torn ACL in 2014 to win the Browns job this season. Murray went on injured reserve, but he did not re-injure the ACL.

Murray's injury was the latest for a team has incurred several, including losing two quarterbacks in Josh McCown (broken left collarbone) and Robert Griffin III (broken coracoid bone) as well as 2016 first-round draft pick Corey Coleman (broken hand) and 2015 first-round pick Cameron Erving (bruised lung). Cornerback Joe Haden also missed Friday's practice with a groin injury.

Parkey was an undrafted free agent for the Eagles in 2014, when set the team's single-season scoring record (150 points) and made the Pro Bowl.

He missed most of the 2015 season with a groin injury.
