The NFL is often declared a copycat league, as teams work hard to replicate the formula of the best franchises. Take, for example, the defending Super Bowl champion Denver Broncos, who look like a contender once again. Despite a change at quarterback this offseason -- to a player who had never thrown an NFL pass -- the Broncos have jumped out to a 2-0 start. The catalyst? A defense that is without holes. That includes a relentless pass rush, among the key ingredients of the antidote to a high-octane offense. Teams will invariably angle to replicate the Broncos' success by trying to build a model that compares favorably. That's easier said than done.
