Jets WR Eric Decker returns to practice; Brandon Marshall out again

NFL, New York Jets, Kansas City Chiefs

FLORHAM PARK, N.J. -- The New York Jets' receiving corps, coming off its most prolific game in team history, faces key injury questions as it prepares for a road game against the Kansas City Chiefs.

Eric Decker (shoulder) returned to practice Thursday on a limited basis and pronounced, "I'll be ready to go Sunday." Coach Todd Bowles said he won't make a final decision on Decker until Sunday.

The bigger question surrounds Brandon Marshall, who suffered a minor left knee sprain last week against the Buffalo Bills. He missed practice for the third straight day. The team is hopeful he can play, but Bowles wasn't about to speculate.

"We'll see how it goes," Bowles said. "If he can't [play], somebody else has to step up. We've got a couple of more days."

Initially Marshall thought he had suffered a season-ending injury because of the way he knee was twisted, but he actually returned to the game a few minutes later. The next day, Bowles said Marshall was "fine," walking around without a limp. He's also listed with a foot injury.

The Jets set a team record against the Bills as the receivers combined for 364 yards -- Decker 126, Marshall 101, Quincy Enunwa 92 and rookie Jalin Marshall 45.

Decker has scored a touchdown in six straight games, one shy of the team record. Santana Moss had seven straight in 2003.

The Jets' base offense is a three-receiver package, so they'd use Decker, Enunwa and Jalin Marshall if Brandon Marshall can't play. The fourth would be rookie Robby Anderson.
