Brett Favre's wife, Deanna, to present him at induction ceremony

Brett Favre said last week that his father would have presented him for induction into the Pro Football Hall of Fame if he were still alive.

He kept it in the family.

The Hall of Fame announced Tuesday that Favre's wife, Deanna, will present him during the Aug. 6 ceremony in Canton, Ohio.

"Deanna is the best teammate I've ever had," Favre said in a statement. "She has been by my side throughout this journey and I'm so excited that she gets to play such an important role for me."

The two dated since high school and married in 1996.

The only other wife to serve as a presenter was Kim Singletary, for her husband, Mike, in 1998, according to the Hall of Fame.

"Serving as Brett's presenter is a great honor," Deanna said in the statement. "I am thrilled to be able [to] share this special moment in time with him."

Deanna isn't the only relative of an inductee to serve as a presenter this year. Lisa DeBartolo will present her father, Ed DeBartolo Jr., and Justin Pace will present his father, Orlando Pace.

The other presenters are Donnie Shell (Tony Dungy), Dom Capers (Kevin Greene), Jim Irsay (Marvin Harrison), John Madden (Ken Stabler) and Mary Levy (Dick Stanfel).

Capers, the Green Bay Packers' defensive coordinator, will be coaching in the Hall of Fame Game the next night. He coached Greene with the Pittsburgh Steelers when he was defensive coordinator and with the Carolina Panthers when he was the team's head coach.

"I'm certainly humbled that Kevin would ask me to present him and I'm excited for Kevin. If there is anybody that deserves to be in, he certainly deserves it," Capers said in the statement.
