Tennessee Titans Capsule

NFL, Tennessee Titans, San Diego Chargers, Los Angeles Rams, Buffalo Bills

TENNESSEE TITANS (3-13)

OPEN CAMP: July 29, Nashville, Tennessee

LAST YEAR: Titans hit bottom in 2015 with coach Ken Whisenhunt fired Nov. 3 after 1-6 start, and Mike Mularkey earned full-time job by proving he would make protecting QB Marcus Mariota his top priority. Only five wins over two seasons also cost GM Ruston Webster his job.

IMPORTANT ADDITIONS: RBs DeMarco Murray and Heisman Trophy winner Derrick Henry, C Ben Jones, RT Jack Conklin, QB Matt Cassel, S Rashad Johnson, WR Rishard Matthews, CBs Brice McCain and Antwon Blake, LB Kevin Dodd.

IMPORTANT LOSSES: Defensive coordinator Ray Horton, QB Zach Mettenberger, CB Coty Sensabaugh, LB Zach Brown.

CAMP NEEDS: Titans need to prove they finally have fixed offensive line after investing three first-round picks in RG Chance Warmack, LT Taylor Lewan and now Conklin. Have to keep Mariota healthy after his impressive rookie season, while opening holes for Murray and Henry. Someone other than rookie Tajae Sharpe must step up at wide receiver, and pressure is on Kendall Wright and Justin Hunter in contract years to prove they were worthy of their high draft status.

EXPECTATIONS: New GM Jon Robinson traded for Murray and swapped No. 1 overall pick in draft to boost talent level. Mularkey is pushing Titans to compete at everything, and franchise that last reached playoffs in 2008 believes it has quarterback and roster to move Tennessee closer to ending that drought.
