Saints sign veteran kicker Josh Scobee

METAIRIE, La. -- The New Orleans Saints have signed veteran place kicker Josh Scobee.

Scobee's agent, Ken Harris, confirmed moved to The Associated Press on Friday after the former Louisiana Tech kicker first mentioned his new team in a social media post.

Scobee is a 12-year NFL veteran who spent his first 11 seasons with Jacksonville. He spent four games last season with Pittsburgh, making six of 10 field goal attempts.

Kai Forbath, who ended last season as New Orleans' place kicker, is due to become a free agent this month.

The Saints have used 10 place kickers in regular season games since Sean Payton became head coach in 2006. Scobee could become the 11th if Payton gives him the job in Week 1 of next season.
