Destiny Slocum picks Oregon State

Destiny Slocum, who helped lead Maryland to the Big Ten regular-season and tournament titles in women's basketball last season, announced via Twitter on Monday that she's heading to Oregon State.

The Big Ten freshman of the year said last month that she was transferring from Maryland.

The 5-foot-7 point guard, who averaged 11 points and six assists per game for the Terrapins, will have to sit out next season because of NCAA transfer rules. Slocum, an Idaho native, originally committed to Washington while in high school but decommitted and signed with Maryland.

Oregon State reached the Final Four in 2016 and won the Pac-12 regular-season title in 2017. The Beavers, who lost to Florida State in the regional finals of the NCAA tournament, saw All-American point guard Sydney Wiese graduate this year.
