Kristine Anigwe first Cal player ever to score 50 points in game

Women's College Basketball, California Golden Bears

Kristine Anigwe accomplished something Thursday night that no Cal basketball player, man or woman, had ever done, scoring 50 points in the Golden Bears' 97-73 victory over Sacramento State at Haas Pavilion in Berkeley.

A sophomore forward, Anigwe surpassed Ed Gray's previous mark of 48 points, set in 1997, and also matched the Pac-12 women's record for points in a game, set in 1989 by Cherie Nelson of USC.

It is the highest-scoring game by any Division I player this season.

"My teammates believe in me so much, and they just throw up the ball and know I'm going to get it," Anigwe told the Cal website. "I'm happy I was able to do this in front of everyone that has helped me. My teammates really care about me, and I'm so happy to be here."

Anigwe made 19 of her 23 shots from the field and added 14 rebounds, as Cal improved to 8-0 this season.
