LAHAINA, Hawaii (Ticker) -- Sophomore guard Shavonna Hunter scored 16 points and freshman Iveta Marcauskaite added 14 to lead No. 21 Illinois to a 73-56 thrashing of Alcorn State in the Women's Maui Invitational. Marcauskaite, a forward from Lithuania, grabbed eight rebounds and Dawn Vana and sophomore Cindy Dallas hauled in seven apiece as the Illini (2-0) outrebounded the Lady Braves, 41-32. Daisha Reed scored 13 points and Cherea Wood added 10, but were the only players for Alcorn State (0-3) to reach double figures. Allison Curtin added 13 points, five assists and six steals for Illinois, which shot 49 percent (29-of-59) from the field. Alcorn State tried to win the game from beyond the 3-point arc, but hit just 26 percent (5-of-19) from long range.
