RALEIGH, N.C. -- LaTonya Sims scored 22 points, leading five Wisconsin players in double figures, as the Badgers (No. 23 ESPN/USA Today; No. 16 Associated Press) beat Elon 102-49 in the consolation game of the GlaxoWellcome Invitational on Sunday. Jessie Stomski added 17 for Wisconsin (1-1), while Emily Asbaugh and Kyle Black each had 12 and Tamara Moore 10. Janis Hepburn topped Elon (0-2) with eight points. The Phoenix shot only 20-for-63 and couldn't cope with Wisconsin's average 3-inch-per-player height advantage. Wisconsin out-rebounded Elon 50-33, led by Nina Smith's nine. The Badgers shot 35-for-69 from the floor. Stomski and Sims scored 13 and 11 points, respectively, in the first half when Wisconsin took a 43-21 lead. Sims opened the second half with seven consecutive points in the opening 1:55. Elon never got closer than 58-26 in the final 15 minutes as Wisconsin steadily pulled away. Elon led 16-13 before Wisconsin took control with an 18-4 run during a 6:47 span. The Badgers scored 14 points off their fastbreak during the spurt, getting four each from Stomski and Asbaugh. Wisconsin last topped 100 points Nov. 17, 1998, in a 103-90 overtime victory over California-Santa Barbara. | ALSO SEE Womens College Basketball Scoreboard
