RALEIGH, N.C. (AP) -- North Carolina State, with three of its top
four scorers out with knee injuries, routed Elon 84-40 in
the season opener for both schools in the first round of the GlaxoWellcome Invitational on Saturday.

Carisse Moody scored 15 points and Tynesha Lewis added 14 points
and six steals for the Wolfpack, who were without Kaayla Chones,
Amy Simpson and Terah James. All will be sidelined four to six
weeks.
Elon shot just 29.8 percent against an aggressive N.C. State
defense and committed 32 turnovers that led to 39 Wolfpack points.
Courtney Nyborg and Ivey Ghee led Elon with six points each.
The Wolfpack, using a mix of zone and man-to-man defenses,
opened a 12-2 lead. A 3-pointer by Amelia Labador made it 24-4 with
8:34 left in the half. Elon finally reached double figures with
3:14 left in the half, trailing 36-11.
The barrage continued in the second half. The Wolfpack used a
14-0 run to open a 41-point lead at 65-24. The margin grew to as
many as 45 points with 2:06 to play.
