Chance Allen misses curfew, won't play in Houston's bowl game

Houston starting receiver Chance Allen was suspended and will not play Saturday in the Las Vegas Bowl presented by Geico, the school confirmed to ESPN.com.

Allen, second on the team with 56 receptions, was sent home Friday morning by Houston coach Major Applewhite for violation of team policy (missed curfew), according to a school spokesman. The senior started 11 of Houston's 12 games during the regular season, leading the team in receiving touchdowns (six) while ranking second in receiving yards (815).

After spending his first three years at Oregon, Allen transferred to Houston, close to where he spent his high school career in nearby Missouri City, Texas. He started 25 of the Cougars' last 26 games and led the team with 12 touchdown receptions in that two-year span.

Isaiah Johnson, who made his first career start last month vs. Memphis, will start in Allen's place. Johnson has 11 catches for 134 yards in 10 games this season.

The Cougars (9-3) played San Diego State (10-3) at Sam Boyd Stadium in Las Vegas.
