Former Boston College DE Max Holloway, 26, dies in car crash

Max Holloway, a former Boston College defensive lineman and son of former NFL player Brian Holloway, died early Thursday after the car he was driving crashed into a house in Lutz, Florida. He was 26.

According to WFLA, the Hillsborough County Sheriff's Office said Max Holloway's car struck a utility pole, flipped and crashed into the garage of a home at approximately 2:30 a.m. Thursday.

"We are all shocked and saddened to hear of the tragic news," Boston College coach Steve Addazio said in a statement. "Our thoughts and prayers are with Max's family and loved ones during this difficult time."

Holloway played three seasons for Boston College before declaring for the NFL draft in 2011. He finished his college career with 99 tackles and 7.5 sacks.

His father, Brian Holloway, was a three-time NFL Pro Bowl selection. He was an offensive lineman for the Patriots and Raiders, playing from 1981 to 1988. Max Holloway's brother David also spent some time in the NFL.
