Tinashe Bere has knee surgery, to miss rest of season

The injury hits keep coming for Duke.

Linebacker Tinashe Bere will miss the rest of the season with a lateral meniscus tear in his right knee suffered in Saturday's win at Notre Dame, the Blue Devils announced Thursday.

Bere, who underwent surgery Wednesday, is the latest Blue Devils player to be sidelined.

Defensive back DeVon Edwards is out for the season after tearing the ACL and MCL in his left knee during the win over the Irish. Redshirt senior quarterback Thomas Sirk was lost just before the season because of the third Achilles injury of his college career. And running back Jela Duncan and defensive end Dominic McDonald will miss Saturday's game against Virginia with leg and shoulder injuries, respectively.

Bere, a redshirt sophomore, had tallied 13 tackles through four games this season for the Blue Devils (2-2). He started six games and recorded 58 tackles in 2015, when he was named an honorable mention freshman All-American.
