Georgetown lands Tremont Waters, the No. 32 in Class of 2017

ESPN 100 point guard Tremont Waters has committed to Georgetown.

Waters chose the Hoyas over Indiana, although he also took official visits to Kentucky and Kansas. Yale, Duke and UConn rounded out his final list of seven.

It appeared Indiana was the leader after the Hoosiers hosted him in late September, but Waters took a surprise unofficial visit to Georgetown on Friday for the Hoyas' Midnight Madness festivities. It was his second time visiting Georgetown in the last six weeks.

Waters, a 5-foot-11 prospect from Notre Dame High School (West Haven, Connecticut), is ranked No. 32 in the ESPN 100 and No. 7 among point guards. He's one of the more electrifying players in the 2017 class, using his quickness and ballhandling ability to get into the lane and finish on his own or create for his teammates.

Waters averaged 13.4 points, 4.0 rebounds, 5.0 assists and 2.1 steals during the spring and summer with Expressions Elite on the Nike EYBL circuit.

Waters is Georgetown's first commitment in the 2017 class, after three-star wing Tyler Foster decommitted in June.

The Hoyas are still involved with five-star guard Troy Brown (No. 18), four-star guard David Beatty, and have been recruiting three-star guard Jamir Moultrie and Washington D.C-area wing Antwan Walker.

John Thompson III will lose Robert Morris graduate transfer Rodney Pryor and forward Reggie Cameron after this season, but Waters should slot in immediately in the backcourt and provide perimeter balance to a talented frontcourt that will include Jessie Govan, Isaac Copeland, Marcus Derrickson and L.J. Peak.

Waters is Georgetown's highest-ranked commitment since Copeland signed in 2014. He was ranked No. 16.
