 A look at highlights in the coaching career of Georgia Tech's Bobby Cremins, who announced his retirement Friday:

Bobby Cremins took Georgia Tech to the Final Four in 1990.

  • Ranks as the all-time winningest coach in Georgia Tech history, compiling an overall record of 352-233 (.601) in 19 seasons with the Yellow Jackets.

  • Sports an all-time coaching record of 452-303 (.599) in 25 seasons as a head coach at Appalachian State (1975-81) and Georgia Tech (1981-2000).

  • Named national Coach of the Year after the 1989-90 season and was selected as the ACC's top coach three times.

  • Ranks as the third-winningest coach in ACC history with 352 victories at Georgia Tech, trailing only North Carolina's Dean Smith (879) and Duke's Mike Krzyzewski (489).

  • Ranks fourth on the all-time lists of coaching victories in ACC play with 132.

  • Took Georgia Tech to the Final Four in 1990, where the Yellow Jackets lost to eventual national champion UNLV. Tech set a school record for victories with a 28-7 record and finished the season ranked No. 3 in the country, the best in school history.

  • Guided the Yellow Jackets to three ACC titles.

  • Took Georgia Tech to the NCAA Tournament 10 times. When Cremins arrived at the school before the 1981-82 season, Georgia Tech had appeared in the tournament just once in its history and was coming off a disastrous 4-23 season. In addition, Cremins' Georgia Tech teams went to four NIT tournaments and declined one other invitation.

  • Boasts a record of 15-10 in the NCAA Tournament and took Georgia Tech to the Sweet 16 five times.

  • Finished with a losing record only three times in his first 18 full seasons at Georgia Tech. The Yellow Jackets are 11-13 this season.

  • Known as an excellent recruiter, Cremins has had 22 of his former Georgia Tech players drafted by the NBA or signed to free-agent contracts. That list includes Stephon Marbury, Kenny Anderson, Mark Price, Dennis Scott, John Salley, Tom Hammonds, Jon Barry, Travis Best and Matt Harpring. Nine Georgia Tech players have been selected in the first round of the draft since 1986.

  • Under Cremins, Georgia Tech has had six All-America players, 23 all-ACC players and eight ACC Rookie of the Year winners.

  • Served as an assistant coach for the U.S. Olympic Team for the 1996 Olympic Games in Atlanta.

  • Was a three-year starter at point guard for South Carolina (1968-70) and played one season of professional basketball in Ecuador (1970-71).

  • When he became coach at Appalachian State in 1975, Cremins was the youngest Division I head coach in the nation at age 27. The Mountaineers won three Southern Conference titles in Cremins' six seasons.
