Prosser: 'I have always treated these as private matters'

SOUTH ORANGE, N.J. Xavier coach Skip Prosser chose to
remain silent on Thursday about any interest he may have in the
Seton Hall coaching job.
Prosser appears to be the leading candidate for the job vacated
by Tommy Amaker, who resigned Wednesday to become coach at
Michigan.
Seton Hall athletic director Jeff Fogelson hired Prosser for the
Xavier job seven years ago.
Asked about his interest in a reunion, Prosser said: "I have
always treated these as private matters between, any situation,
myself, family, Xavier and my players. I would just like to leave
it as that."
Prosser, in Minneapolis for the Final Four, also said in a phone
interview that he and Fogelson "are close friends. I can't think
of a better college administrator in the country. He's a
superstar."
Prosser guided Xavier to a 21-8 record and an NCAA Tournament
berth this season. The Musketeers were beaten 83-71 by Notre Dame
in a first-round game in which the Irish shot 63 percent from the
field.
Fogelson was asked about Prosser by Seton Hall players after
Amaker told them he was leaving. Fogelson said he wasn't sure if
Prosser would want to leave Xavier.
Pirate players would like to see assistant coach Fred Hill Jr.
get the job, but that would be big jump for the son of Rutgers
baseball coach Fred Hill. The younger Hill is also a candidate for
the vacant head coaching job at Rutgers where Kevin Bannon was
fired last week.
