LAWRENCE, Kansas (Ticker) -- Fourth-ranked Kansas looks to
extend its lengthy November winning streak tonight as it hosts
Middle Tennessee State. On Saturday, Kansas (5-0) won its 34th straight game in November with an easy 99-56 victory over Division II Washburn. Kirk Hinrich scored a career-high 22 points and Eric Chenowith added 19 and 17 rebounds as the fourth-ranked Jayhawks posted their 500th victory at Allen Fieldhouse. Kansas has not lost during the season's first month since a 70-68 setback at Arizona State on November 23, 1990. A win tonight will give the Jayhawks their second straight 6-0 start and fourth in five seasons. They started the season with impressive victories over UCLA and St. John's in the Coaches vs. Cancer Classic at Madison Square Garden. Middle Tennessee State (1-1) has split the first two games of its season, defeating St. Francis (Illinois) on November 17 before falling to Tennessee State, 75-71, three nights later. The Blue Raiders are scoring 82 points per game as a team while shooting 49 percent from the field and 74 percent from the line. They are also outrebounding their opponents by 10 boards per contest. Fernando Ortiz is coming off the bench to lead the Blue Raiders, averaging 11.5 points, two rebounds and two assists through the first two games. Kansas won both all-time meetings against Middle Tennessee State, including a 99-77 road triumph last season. The Jayhawks are 12-2 against the Sun Belt Conference.
