LEXINGTON, Ky. (AP) -- Brothers Joe and Jon Crispin combined for
57 points, going 13-for-23 from 3-point range, to lift Penn State
to a stunning 73-68 win over No. 22 Kentucky on Saturday night.
Joe Crispin, a senior, scored 31 and Jon, a sophomore, added 26,
as Penn State (2-0) handed Kentucky just its second loss in a home
opener at Rupp Arena, a span of 25 seasons.

Boos cascaded from the sellout crowd in the final seconds, and the Penn State players mobbed each other in celebration at midcourt when the game ended. The Wildcats had won 11 straight home openers since beginning the 1988-89 season with an 85-82 loss to Northwestern State in Eddie Sutton's last season.
The Wildcats (1-3) had also won 20 straight games at home since
a 47-46 setback to Tennessee on Jan. 12, 1999.
Kentucky hit just 29-of 74 shots (39 percent) and only 5-of-26
from 3-point range (19 percent). Kentucky also went just 5-of-15
from the free-throw line, including three crucial misses in the
closing minutes.
Erik Daniels led Kentucky with 16 points and fellow freshman
Jason Parker added 15. Parker also grabbed 15 rebounds as the Cats
dominated the boards, outrebounding Penn State 57-36. The Cats had
24 offensive rebounds.
The game was tied four times in the second half, before Penn
State took the lead for good at 64-61 on a Jon Crispin 3-pointer.
Joe Crispin followed with another 3-pointer to make it 67-61.
Daniels hit two straight baskets to pull Kentucky within two.
The teams traded field goals before Joe Crispin scored to give
Penn State a 71-67 cushion.
Gerald Fitch missed two free throws and Marquis Estill split a
pair to make it 71-68. The Wildcats had a chance to tie the game
after Joe Crispin was called for traveling. But Bogans launched a
3-pointer that was partially blocked by Gyasi Cline-Heard, and Jon
Crispin sank two free throws to seal the victory.
The Wildcats are off to their worst start since 1984 when they
opened 1-4.
Penn State trailed by two at halftime, but opened the second
half with a 12-2 spurt to build an eight-point lead. Joe Crispin
hit a field goal to tie the game at 39-39, and Jon Crispin put the
Lions ahead two possessions later with a 3-pointer. Titus Ivory and
Joe Crispin added 3-pointers to give Penn State its biggest lead at
49-41.
The Wildcats led the entire first half, opening an 11-point lead
before Penn State chipped away to trail 39-37 at halftime. Two
freshmen accounted for a 9-0 spurt to give the Wildcats their
biggest lead of the opening half.
Daniels hit two field goals and a 3-pointer during an individual
7-0 scoring burst. Cliff Hawkins' layup after a Kentucky steal put
the Wildcats up 34-23.
The Crispins, who each scored 15 first-half points, led a Penn
State surge late in the half. Jon Crispin sank two free throws and
another 3-pointer to pull the Lions to within five at 36-31.
Cline-Heard hit Penn State's first two free throws of the half and
Joe Crispin added a basket and two free throws to trim Kentucky's
lead to two by halftime.
