ANCHORAGE, Alaska (Ticker) -- Lance Williams scored 20 points to lead a balanced attack as No. 22 DePaul took fourth place in the Great Alaska Shootout with a 93-76 victory over Alaska-Anchorage.

Freshman Imari Sawyer added 19 points and Bobby Simmons and 7-footer Steve Hunter had 15 apiece for the Blue Demons (3-1), who maintained control throughout over the host Division II school.

"UAA is a quality team. They are extremely well-coached," DePaul coach Pat Kennedy said. "You learn a lot about yourself defensively. We learned in a game environment."

The 6-7 Simmons also grabbed 13 rebounds as the Blue Demons manhandled the Seawolves on the boards. DePaul held a 54-26 rebounding edge and shot 50 percent (34-of-68) from the field.

DePaul bounced back from its opening-round loss to unranked Syracuse that dumped it into the consolation bracket, beating Florida State and Alaska-Anchorage.

Ed Kirk scored 21 points and Nelson Williams added 16 for the Seawolves (2-2), who shot just 41 percent (31-of-75) and failed in a bid to match their best finish in this tournament, which they did in 1986, 1987 and 1991.

"We knew we were in for a battle today, but I can honestly say in all the years I've been around the Shootout, I thought this team played the full 120 minutes the whole tournament. They never let up," UAA coach Charlie Bruns said.

Anchorage cut a 12-point deficit to 57-50 on a 3-pointer by Taylor Wagner with 14:11 remaining. But Sawyer made a basket and two free throws around a 3-pointer by Joe Tulley.

A layup by Lance Williams capped a 9-2 surge that rebuilt the lead to 70-56 with 9:23 left, and the Seawolves never got within single digits again.

"They were some of the biggest guys we've ever covered," Kirk said. "They were strong and not slow."

Sawyer had 11 assists and is averaging better than 10 per game. His floor leadership helped DePaul shoot 57 percent (17-of-30) in the second half.

"I couldn't get these without my big guys played hard," Sawyer said. "We didn't take anybody for granted."

"Imari is a young player and is still learning," Kennedy added.

Glen Newbold scored 10 points for the Seawolves, who made just 6-of-24 3-pointers.

Simmons scored 13 points in the first half, when DePaul opened a 43-31 lead. UAA had trouble inside against the bigger Blue Demons and resorted to perimeter shooting but made just 1-of-10 3-pointers.
