J.R. Smith delivers Mother's Day flowers to NICU moms

Behind the scenes of J.R. Smith's quest for a second consecutive NBA championship with the Cleveland Cavaliers, the shooting guard has spent a lot of time in the Cleveland Clinic's neonatal intensive care unit.

Smith's youngest daughter, Dakota, is a patient at the hospital; in January, she was born five months premature. This Mother's Day, moms of other premature babies in the NICU received flowers from the NBA player.

Gifting the floral arrangements was Smith's idea, according to a blog post written by his wife, Jewel Harris. Smith's daughter Demi placed the flowers in each room of the hospital.

Dakota Smith weighed just 1 pound when she was born, but she is up to 6 pounds and continues to make progress.

The Cavaliers face the Boston Celtics on Wednesday in Game 1 of the Eastern Conference finals.
