Clippers' Chris Paul (left thumb) remains out for Warriors game

Chris Paul's return for the LA Clippers will have to wait.

Coach Doc Rivers said Paul won't play at Golden State on Thursday night after missing more than a month with a torn ligament in his left thumb. Paul was medically cleared to play earlier this week.

A nine-time All-Star, Paul tore a ligament in his left thumb on Jan. 16 against the Oklahoma City Thunder and had surgery two days later. He was initially expected to miss six to eight weeks while rehabilitating the thumb. Wednesday marked his fifth full week since he had surgery.

Paul has missed 13 games so far as a result of the thumb injury. He also missed seven games earlier in the season because of a strained left hamstring.

Paul was enjoying another stellar season, averaging 17.5 points and 9.7 assists per game on 61.1 percent true shooting. He ranks first in real plus-minus at 8.99 and sixth in player efficiency rating at 27.31.
