Lamar Odom transferred to private Los Angeles rehab clinic

NBA, Los Angeles Lakers, Los Angeles Clippers

LOS ANGELES -- Lamar Odom has progressed enough to be moved to a private rehabilitation clinic three months after he was hospitalized in critical condition after a weekend at a Nevada brothel.

Odom, a former Los Angeles Lakers and Clippers star, has entered a specialized facility in Los Angeles after being transported from Cedars-Sinai Medical Center near Beverly Hills. Family spokeswoman Alvina Alston said Friday that Odom was released from the hospital earlier in the week.

Alston said Odom's family is proud of what it has termed his "miraculous and continued improvement" but isn't providing details of his condition.

Odom, 36, faces a long recovery after a stroke that resulted in brain damage.

Odom was found at the Love Ranch brothel in Crystal, Nevada, in October. Investigators believe he overdosed on cocaine and other drugs during a three-day stay.

When Odom was transferred from Las Vegas to Los Angeles in October, the family said he was undergoing therapy, was more responsive and had increased use of speech.

Information from The Associated Press was used in this report.
