Khloe Kardashian on Lamar Odom: 'We tell him he had a brain injury'

Lamar Odom faces a long recovery after a stroke that resulted in brain damage. The former NBA veteran isn't aware of the sequence of events that left him in this condition, his wife, Khloe Kardashian, said.

"We tell him he had a brain injury," Kardashian said in an interview that aired Monday on the daytime talk show "Ellen." "I can't tell him how that brain injury was caused because it will set him back. He's really confused a lot, so we have to remind him. Every day is different."

Kardashian said Odom continues to have trouble speaking but is "learning how to walk again and feed himself again, put sentences together."

"He is off of all machines that help his organs, but still he has such a long way to go," she said.

On Monday, a prosecutor said her office is considering a felony drug charge against Odom after he was found unconscious at a Nevada brothel.

Nye County District Attorney Angela Bello said the sheriff's office submitted the potential charge last week, and a prosecutor is considering filing a count of unlawful use of cocaine or being under the influence of a controlled substance. Bello declined to discuss details of what is expected to be a weeks-long investigation by her office.

Authorities investigating a possible cocaine overdose by Odom got a warrant Oct. 13 to take a blood sample while he was hospitalized in critical condition after a weekend at the Love Ranch brothel in Crystal, Nevada.

Kardashian, who is dating Houston Rockets guard James Harden but remains married to Odom as he recovers, joked about the relationships in the interview on Ellen.

Kardashian has said she hasn't made any decisions about the future of her relationship with Odom.

"I'm just gonna say I'm, like, part of polygamy now," she said. "I have a husband. I have a boyfriend. That's a way easier thing to say."
