Glen Davis has ankle surgery, to be sidelined 2-3 months

NBA, Los Angeles Clippers

Unsigned forward Glen Davis, who reportedly has had conversations about returning to the Los Angeles Clippers, will be sidelined for two to three months after having surgery on his left ankle, the Los Angeles Times reported Wednesday.

The newspaper, citing an NBA official, said Davis had ligaments repaired in his left ankle in addition to having a cyst and bone spurs removed. He suffered the injury in Game 6 of the first round of the Western Conference playoffs against San Antonio.

The 6-foot-9, 289-pound Davis averaged 4.0 points and 2.3 rebounds last season for the Clippers. He also has played for Boston and Orlando during his eight-year career.

The Times reported in late August that Davis had met with Clippers coach Doc Rivers about rejoining the team, which still has an open roster spot, and that the Dallas Mavericks had also shown interest.
