J.P. Arencibia announces his retirement

In a post on his Twitter account, former major league catcher J.P. Arencibia announced his retirement on Wednesday.

Arencibia spent parts of six years in the majors, most notably as a member of the Toronto Blue Jays. The 31-year-old made his major league debut with Toronto in 2010, going 4-for-5 with two homers and three RBIs in his first game. He also appeared in the majors with the Texas Rangers in 2014 and Tampa Bay Rays in 2015.

Overall, Arencibia hit .212 with 80 home runs and 245 RBIs during his big league career.
