White Sox starter Gonzalez leaves with groin strain

KANSAS CITY, Mo. -- Chicago White Sox right-hander Miguel Gonzalez left with a right groin strain after 21 pitches Thursday night in his start against the Kansas City Royals.

After Salvador Perez fouled off a full-count pitch leading off the second, White Sox manager Robin Ventura and trainer Herm Schneider came to the mound to see Gonzalez.

Michael Ynoa replaced Gonzalez and hit Perez with his first pitch.

The 32-year-old Gonzalez is 2-6 with a 4.05 ERA in 18 starts and one relief appearance this season after going 39-33 with Baltimore the previous four years.
