Rays send utilityman Steve Pearce back to O's for catcher Jonah Heim

The Tampa Bay Rays have traded utilityman Steve Pearce back to the Orioles.

In exchange, the Orioles are sending catcher Jonah Heim to Tampa Bay. Heim, 21, is hitting .216 with seven home runs and 30 RBIs for Class-A club Fredrick of the Carolina League. The Orioles drafted him in the fourth round of the 2013 draft.

The 33-year-old Peace played for the Orioles from 2012-15 and hit .258 with 43 homers and 116 RBIs. He signed with Tampa Bay last winter and is batting .309 this season with 10 homers and 50 RBIs.
