Tigers' Cabrera ejected in 6th inning against Indians

CLEVELAND -- Detroit Tigers slugger Miguel Cabrera has been ejected in the sixth inning against the Cleveland Indians on Tuesday night.

Cabrera hit a ground ball to third baseman Jose Ramirez with Ian Kinsler on first. Ramirez's throw to second baseman Jason Kipnis wasn't in time to get Kinsler but Cabrera, thinking the ball hit off his leg, never left the batter's box. He was called out when Kipnis threw to first.

Cabrera immediately argued the call and manager Brad Ausmus came out of the dugout. The umpires briefly met and the out call stood. Still carrying his bat, Cabrera angrily protested the ruling and was ejected by first base umpire Tim Timmons.

The ejection, the eighth of Cabrera's career, came with the Indians leading 8-0. Cabrera was named as reserve to the AL All-Star team earlier Tuesday.
