Anderson's no-hit bid for Brewers broken up in 8th by Cubs

MLB, Milwaukee Brewers, Chicago Cubs

MILWAUKEE -- Chase Anderson's no-hit bid for the Milwaukee Brewers against the Chicago Cubs has been broken up by Ben Zobrist's leadoff double in the eighth inning.

Zobrist hit the first pitch of the eighth over the head of Kirk Nieuwenhuis, and the drive landed at the base of the center-field wall.

Anderson had struck out five and walked one Tuesday night. He threw 87 pitches through seven innings.

Anderson (1-5), who had lost five straight starts, was perfect through five innings before he walked Miguel Montero with one out in the sixth.

Nieuwenhuis made a leaping catch at the wall in center to open the fourth inning, robbing Dexter Fowler of an extra-base hit and preserving the no-hit bid.

The Brewers lead 4-0 on a solo home run by Jonathan Lucroy, an RBI single by Ryan Braun and a two-run double by Chris Carter.

Anderson took a no-hit bid into the seventh on June 12 last season with Arizona against San Francisco. He ended up allowing one hit over seven innings in a 1-0 win.
