OAKLAND, Calif. -- Left-hander Felix Doubront has agreed on a $2 million, one-year contract with the Oakland Athletics, a deal that includes $500,000 in guaranteed money and avoids salary arbitration.
The A's announced the contract Wednesday after trading lefty Drew Pomeranz to the San Diego Padres along with minor league lefty Jose Torres and either a player to be named or cash for first baseman Yonder Alonso and reliever Marc Rzepczynski.
Rzepczynski later agreed to terms on a one-year contract, as did infielder Eric Sogard and outfielders Sam Fuld and Andrew Lambo.
Doubront pitched for Toronto and Oakland last season, going 3-3 with a 5.50 ERA in 12 starts and four relief appearances.
The A's declined to offer a contract to first baseman Ike Davis, who becomes a free agent.
With the acquisition of Rzepczynski, Oakland had a majors-high 12 arbitration-eligible players but general manager David Forst said the club has budgeted to sign them, saying, "payroll's not an issue."
The signings before Wednesday night's deadline left seven remaining players eligible for arbitration: Alonso, third baseman Brett Lawrie, pitcher Jarrod Parker, right fielder Josh Reddick, reliever Fernando Rodriguez, reliever Evan Scribner and infielder Danny Valencia.
