Miller, Morgan sign long-term deals with ESPN

Jon Miller and Joe Morgan, baseball's pre-eminent commentating team, have both signed with ESPN to continue on Sunday Night Baseball through 2005. The duo, who will begin their 12th season together on April 1 when Texas meets Toronto in Puerto Rico at 4 p.m. ET, will also call the World Series on ESPN Radio each year.

Miller and Morgan will call one League Championship Series in addition to the World Series on ESPN Radio. Morgan will also participate in weekly chats and provide commentary for ESPN.com.

"Jon and Joe are synonymous with Sunday Night Baseball," said Jed Drake, ESPN executive producer and senior vice president, remote production, "and we are thrilled they will continue to inform, educate and entertain our viewers. Every April, baseball fans can count on two things - their team being in the pennant race on Opening Day and Jon and Joe on Sunday nights."

In addition to calling approximately 25 Sunday night telecasts per season, Miller and Morgan will also work holiday games. Morgan will continue to provide analysis on select ESPN/ESPN2 Wednesday Night Baseball telecasts.

"It is especially exciting for me to continue my association with ESPN's Sunday Night Baseball because I strongly believe that our coverage is the best on television and has broken ground many times," Miller said. "It is also gratifying to continue my association with Joe because I also strongly believe that he is the best analyst on television and because he often laughs at appropriate times for which I've been grateful these last 11 years. I anticipate many laughs and much excitement in the years to come. I also look forward to helping turn Joe, a true child of television, into a verbal artist each October on ESPN Radio."

Morgan added, "I'm glad to continue my long-term relationship with ESPN and look forward to beginning my 12th season of Sunday night games with Jon."

Miller, a member of the National Sportscasters and Sportswriters Association Hall of Fame, will continue his role as the radio and television voice of the San Francisco Giants. Morgan, a Hall of Fame second baseman, won two World Series as part of the Cincinnati Reds "Big Red Machine."
