ST ANDREWS, Scotland -- Tiger Woods will play the first two rounds of the British Open with 1994 champion Nick Price and U.S. Amateur champion David Gossett.

Woods, needing to win the Open to complete a career Grand Slam, goes out at 9.30 local time (4:30 a.m. ET) in Thursday's first round on the Old Course. On Friday, he plays at 2 p.m. local time (9 a.m. ET).

David Duval and Ernie Els, numbers two and three in the World Rankings, play together along with Steen Tinning. Colin Montgomerie will be with Davis Love III and Tom Scherrer.

Darren Clarke goes out with 1997 champion Justin Leonard and Joe Ozaki, while Lee Westwood accompanies in-form American Notah Begay IIIand Jeff Maggert.

Gary Player and Nick Faldo, with six Open titles between them, go out together, along with American Scott Dunlap.

Defending champion Paul Lawrie also has high-quality American company in the shape of Fred Couples and John Huston.
