Former Buckeye Armour leads Web.com Tour Finals opener

COLUMBUS, Ohio -- Former Ohio State player Ryan Armour shot a 6-under 65 on Saturday to take the third-round lead in the Web.com Tour Finals-opening Nationwide Children's Hospital Championship.

Armour had a 12-under 201 total on Ohio State's Scarlet Course for a one-stroke lead over Keith Mitchell, the leader after each of the first two rounds.

Mitchell had a 70. He missed a PGA Tour card by a stroke last week in the Web.com Tour's regular-season finale in Oregon.

The four-event series features the top 75 players from the Web.com regular-season money list, Nos. 126-200 in the PGA Tour's FedEx Cup standings -- Armour was 159th -- and non-members with enough PGA Tour money to have placed in the top 200 in the FedEx Cup had they been eligible.

The top-25 finishers -- Mitchell was 26th- on the Web.com regular-season money list have earned PGA Tour cards. They are competing against each other for tour priority, with regular-season earnings counting in their totals. The other players are fighting for 25 cards based on series earnings.

Tom Lovelady was third at 10 under after a 64. He was 29th on the Web.com money list.

Five-time PGA Tour winner Ben Crane was tied for eighth at 6 under after a 67, and six-time PGA Tour winner Hunter Mahan was tied for 21st at 2 under after a 72. Crane was 147th in the FedEx Cup standings, and Mahan 182nd.
