New Illinois coach Tim Beckman made the acronym ONE the motto for the football program after his arrival.
He made wristbands for all football personnel and also included signs around the complex displaying ONE -- Operation New Era.
Operation is a military reference, and Beckman considers each week a battle for his team. The sign contains logos of each of Illinois' 12 regular-season opponents, and the goal is to have a 13th battle, for the Big Ten championship on Dec. 1 in Indianapolis. The "new era" element signifies the new chapter of Illinois football under Beckman.
