By 1990, the NCAA and UNLV coach Jerry Tarkanian already had been at war for 13 years. Maybe that gave Anderson Hunt, Stacey Augmon, Greg Anthony and Larry Johnson some extra motivation. Something did. By crushing Duke 103-73, the Rebels set records for points scored and margin of victory in a national title game that still stand. Hunt scored 29 points against the Blue Devils and was named Most Outstanding Player. Tarkanian had long said he didn't want to accept any trophy presented by the NCAA, but at the last minute he agreed to participate in the ceremony.
