MMA's Heavyweight Championship Lineage

Alistair Overeem
June 18, 2011-Feb. 2, 2013
Overeem, a light heavyweight who morphed into a mountain of a man, met Werdum in the quarterfinal round of Strikeforce's ill-fated heavyweight grand prix. Overeem was hardly at his best, but then again the same could be said of Werdum. Nonetheless, Overeem defended the lineal title in his UFC debut with a stoppage of Brock Lesnar. In his next contest, which was delayed over a year because of issues stemming from a positive test for performance-enhancing drugs, Overeem's lack of respect for Antonio Silva resulted in him being knocked out early in the third round.
